Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields made his first opening with the Buckeyes on Saturday afternoon.While leading Ohio State to a 45-21 victory over Florida Atlantic, Fields won five touchdowns, the most in the first Buckeyes game in history. He opened with a 51-yard touchdown race, the longest career of his career.
Later, Fields added three touchdowns in the air in the first quarter, including connecting with Benjamin Victor in a 32-yard pass to give the Buckeyes a 21-0 lead with 9:12 left. He entered halftime with four scores, since Ohio State was 28-3.

In the third quarter, Fields took a 35-6 lead with three yards going on with Jeremy Ruckert.
Fields finished his debut in 25 of 18 for 234 yards, 61 yards on the ground and five touchdowns. The sophomore moved from Ohio to the state of Ohio this winter and received an exemption from eligibility. He came to the Bulldogs as the general recruit number 2 in the Class of 2018 behind Clemson’s quarterback Trevor Lawrence. However, Fields sat behind sophomore Jack Froome in 2018 before deciding to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
