The Plot
The movie is a thriller based on a young serial killer and rapist. The story focuses on the tough cop  Shivani Shivaji Roy played by Rani Mukherji who fights for the women rights and is out to catch the criminal. The movie has a backdrop of Kota, Rajasthan and a young criminal is out in the capital and is spreading terror by committing rape and rape. His targets are young women and nothing seems to sop him until the cop Shivani takes the charge to unveil his crimes.
What we liked about it?
The acting is splendid and all the actors have delivered their best in the movies especially Rani Mukherji. She plays a tough cop flawlessly and is a treat to watch. The TV actor Vishal Jethwa has also done a great job as a lethal and scary rapist. The director has portrayed the antagonist character really well by showing his troubled past that explains why he is acting like a monster. The faceoff between the cops and the antagonist makes the movie engaging. The movie has a nice flow and the best part is that there are no songs to disrupt the narrative. We know that the cops will catch the culprit in the end but the cat and mouse game is quite an interesting watch.
What we didn’t like?
The movie doesn’t make sense sometimes. How an underage cope manages to penetrate the police station and how he is able to commit so many crimes under the nose of a great team of cops? There are many unanswered questions in the movie that may leave the watchers unsatisfied. Some scenes are dragging and the monologues of Rani Mukherji on the women rights can bore you at times.
The Verdict
The first part of the movie was real and raw and was kind of more convincing in terms of Plot. Mardaani 2 somehow glorifies the villain a lot but of course there is a lot of suspense element in the movie to keep you occupied. The movie is worth a watch if you are into serious and motivational movies.
