The officials at WWE believe that running a developmental brand can be challenging. The recent reports suggest that WWE will be approaching and developing new talent. There is a reason why WWE senior vice president James Kimball explains how and why developmental releases can prevent bottlenecks. It is the current philosophy behind running the developmental programs. Both WWE Next in Line & WWW NXT will have to follow all these rules. Here is more to this story:
WWE SVP Explains The Rules AT The Company
WWE SVP has a lot say about the ongoing rules in the company. He believes that sometimes developmental releases can easily prevent ‘bottlenecks. Here is what he has to say:
“We come into each [tryout] week with gaps that need to be filled,” Kimball said, explaining the schedule of churning the roster through evaluations. “At that two-year mark, if you’ve not made it on NXT TV on a regular basis, it’s just not for you and it’s not for us.”
According to Kimball all these evaluations come in every six months and it is much necessary for the company. He also believes that the company will be preventing all the latest bottlenecks. It is possible that the officials at the company doesn’t sign up with too many people at one time. They must not be of similar height, weight and build. There is no doubt that it is best to opt for a wide range of shapes and sizes when it comes to limited spots.

The development program begins the churning process
There are plenty of tryouts that often comes as cuts. While the developmental program begins with the churning process itself. It comes around the same time as tryouts. Here is what he has to say:
“Our goal is to add volume, quality and depth to developmental,” Kimball reveals. “Coming into this week, we have a 110 talents in developmental. The goal at the end of this year is 130. The sweet spot for us long-term is around 150.”
According to the SVP the developmental at WWE shrinks to a big low. A total of 90 talents have gone during the pandemic. It proves that replenishing the roster may not become the sole focus for them. They will want to make sure that the roster gets replenished with ‘real talent and premium’ at the same time.
WWE and the officials are recently holding tryouts for the SummerSlam weekend. It will happen with the Los Angeles Lakers’ Dwight Howard. He will be taking part as the company seems to seek for all the new talents. Whether it is in college sports, MMA, YouTube, and other mediums. It can be anything that is outside the world of professional wrestling. If you are looking for more updates and headlines from WWE don’t forget to check out this space.
