The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning of possible severe flooding in Okara and Sahiwal districts, as rising water levels in the Ravi River pose a growing threat to nearby communities.
According to the PDMA, floodwaters are expected to reach Sadani within the next 36 hours, raising concerns for low-lying areas in Okara and Sahiwal. The authority cautioned that when water levels rise at Balloki, pressure on the drain dyke increases, which could result in serious complications if not managed promptly.
Local administrations have been alerted to remain vigilant, with precautionary measures underway to protect vulnerable populations. Residents in at-risk zones have been advised to stay updated with official announcements and prepare for possible evacuation orders if the situation worsens.
Authorities have emphasized the importance of timely response and coordination to mitigate the potential damage from the expected surge in river water. Relief teams and monitoring units are on standby to address emergencies as conditions develop.
