Oscars this year have been eventful for the fans. However something shocking also happened this year. The top Hollywood actor Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars. When he made a joke over his wife Jada Pinkett Smith it didn’t go down well with Will Smith.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed this Friday that Will Smith is now allowed to attend Academy awards. This ban will probably go on for about a decade. Many media reports are coming up with this news that shows its authenticity. Here is more to this story:
Will Smith Banned From Oscars
Oscars will ban Will Smith for over 10 years. Due to the slap controversy he will not be able to attend the ceremony again. Here is what the board of Academy awards have revealed:
“The Board has decided, for a period of 10 years from April 8, 2022, Mr. Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards.”
AMPAS President David Rubin and CEO Dawn Hudson isn’t happy with the ‘unacceptable and harmful behavior” of Will Smith. The letter is written to the full membership especially after a virtual meeting right after the award ceremony. Here is what the letter says: “We hope this can begin a time of healing and restoration for all involved and impacted’’.
The drama at the Oscars is intense and has resulted in a lot of controversy. Multiple projects have been involved with Will Smith put all of them are on hold. The list includes Bad Boys 4 for Sony, Fast and Loose for Netflix, and the Apple TV movie Emancipation.

Will Smith’s apologizes to Chris Rock and The Academy
Will Smith has apologized Chris Rock at the organizers at the Academy Awards. Even though he is banned from attending the award ceremony he can keep the awards with him. He has won several awards during the 94th Academy Awards Ceremony in March. Apart from that he is eligible for all the nominations and wins in the future Oscars.
Since a week ago Will Smith has resigned from the Academy awards. He has apologized to the team especially after the disciplinary proceedings after the ceremony ended. Many people are questioning and speculating various things. They plan to continue what could be done to rectify this incident that happened at Oscars.
Right after the slap incident happened, Will was asked to leave the ceremony. Wil isn’t the first one to be banned from the Academy after following the controversy. However he is the first one to get such a big punishment. Some other banned actors include Bill Cosby, Roman Polansky, and Harvey Weinstein. All of them were removed right after taking these legal actions for accusations of sexual misconduct.
