US announces to send troops to Saudi Arabia and UAE

The United States has announced the sending of troops to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

During a press conference at the US Department of Defense Pentagon headquarters, Defense Minister Mark Asper said the US president had approved sending additional troops to Saudi Arabia. The decision to send troops was made at a high level meeting of the US National Security, in addition to deploying troops to the United Arab Emirates.

The decision to send troops has been made at the request of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the deployment of these forces will be of “defensive nature“. With the help of these forces, the air and missile defence systems of the two countries will be improved and the United States will accelerate the delivery of defence equipment to them.

Speaking on the occasion, Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph Dunford said the troops would send a fair number of troops to the Gulf, but the number would not be in the thousands.

According to the International News Agency, the United States has installed a Patriot missile defence battery on Riyadh’s Sultan Airbus, plus 600 US troops are already on Airbus.

It is to be noted that one week ago, the Abqaiq and Kharis oil fields were targeted in Saudi Arabia. Which led to the loss of oil supply worldwide. The US had alleged that Iran was involved in the attacks. Iran denies the allegations of involvement in the attacks, calling it a Houthi rebel action.
