Early Days and Childhood
Shreya Ghoshal was born on 12th March 1984 and is 35 years old in a small town near Rajasthan. Her mother is has a post-graduate degree in Literature and her father is a nuclear power plant engineer at a renowned company in India. Since the age of 4, the little Shreya was inclined towards music and she played harmonium along with her mother. When her parents realized her potential in the music they enrolled her in an art school for training. She participated in the Zee TV mega-hit singing show Sare ga ma pa kids edition and came out as a winner on the show. The show was hosted by the popular singer Sonu Nigham. Shreya’s parents moved to Mumbai after they acknowledged their daughter’s talent and encouraged and supported her in pursuing music.
Her Big Break In Bollywood
She was noticed by the famous director Sanjay Leela Bhansali when she participated in Sare Ga Ma Pa for the second time. The second time she competed with the adults and made an impressive impression on the judges and music directors in Bollywood. She became the voice of Paro in the mega-blockbuster Devdas and the song was filmed on Aishwarya Rai. She sang 5 songs in the movie and went on to become one of the leading female singers of Bollywood alongside Alka Yagnik, Kavita Krishna Murti, and Sadhna Sargam.
Family and Husband
Shreya has a father and mother and brother. The family of 4 is a closely-knit unit and is very supportive of each other. She got married to her childhood friend and long-time love Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya. The couple got married on 5th February 2015 and is leading a happy life. They had a traditional Bengali wedding ceremony and tied the knot with each other. Her husband is an India based businessman and entrepreneur.
