Pakistan, who had threatened the war and China standing behind it, now advocated resolving the Kashmir issue through dialogue

Pakistan, which threatened to even strike an atomic bomb on the Kashmir issue, and China standing in support of it, have now insisted on resolving the matter through negotiations.

Pakistan and China discussed the Kashmir issue on Sunday and stressed the need to resolve disputes in the region through dialogue on the basis of mutual respect and equality. Also, in a joint statement issued at the end of China’s two-day visit of Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Pakistan, the two countries insisted that their strategic alliance remain unaffected by any regional or international situation. Wang came to Islamabad for China-Afghanistan-Pakistan trilateral foreign minister-level talks. During a two-day visit, he met President of Pakistan Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Wang also held talks with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa during this period. During these meetings, extensive discussion was held on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest between the two sides. Wang’s visit to Pakistan has come at a time when there is fresh tension between India and Pakistan due to India’s abolition of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5.

Both sides said that a peaceful, stable, cooperative and prosperous South Asia is in the interests of all sides. According to the statement, “Different parties in the region need to resolve disputes and issues through dialogue on the basis of mutual respect and equality”. During this time Pakistan and China discussed the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The Pakistani side made the Chinese side aware of their concerns and the whole situation including ‘immediate humanitarian issues’.

According to the statement, “The Chinese side said that it is closely monitoring the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir and reiterated that the Kashmir issue is a dispute of the past, and the UN Charter, relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council and bilateral According to the agreements, there should be a proper and peaceful solution to it. India has clearly told the international community that removing most of the provisions of Article 370 is its internal matter. India also advised Pakistan to accept this truth.
