Oprah, Miley Cyrus, Lil Nas X to join Facebook live-streaming graduation ceremony this Friday

College and high school seniors are missing out on graduation ceremonies amid social estrangement, meaning there are no fancy speakers, gowns, and cap and gown photos.

On May 15, seniors can celebrate from the comfort of their own home, and they will all have the same graduate speakers and interpreters, so you won’t have the right to brag about your own college options.

The virtual kick-off ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. EST, airing on Facebook Watch and Instagram account pages.

Miley Cyrus will perform the latest graduation song ‘The Climb’. Hopefully, vitamin C can go through a presentation of his classic ‘Graduation (Friends Forever)’ and Green Day can pop ‘Time of Your Life (Good Riddance)’ to make it exactly like graduation from real life.

There will be speeches by Jennifer Garner, Lil Nas X (hopefully singing a graduation-themed version of ‘Old Town Road’) Awkwafina and Olympic gymnast Simone Biles.

More special guests will be announced later for the hour-long broadcast available on Facebook Watch. And Matthew McConaughey and Cardi B have shared messages with the 2020 graduating class in a video that was recorded for the event.

In congratulating her, the 27-year-old rapper also shared some advice for high school graduates about college class selection, before saying, “It’s more than a diploma. It’s more than graduation. It’s knowledge. It’s knowing you took that you spent those difficult nights studying. ”

McConaughey offered his own words of wisdom in a separate video message. “Don’t be too upset if you’re not sure what you want to do in life,” he said. “I’m 50 years old. I have many days when I’m still not quite sure what I want to be. But I work on it,” said the actor.

“Take care of yourselves, take care of your loved ones. Live in a way now, where you can look back later and say, ‘I think I handled it pretty well,'” he said before adding his signature phrase, “Very good, good.”

Facebook says it will call specific high schools and universities in the US. It will also include photos, videos, and messages from students and teachers.
