Nick Cannon was born in San Diego, California on October 8, 1980. He was brought up by his grandfather and lived in Lincoln Park’s Bay Vista Housing Projects as a child. Cannon was linked to the Lincoln Park Bloods street gang when he was a teenager. He became a performer at the early age of 8, and he became a comedian at the age of 11 at the local cable access television show. Cannon attended Monte Vista High School in 1998 and moved to Hollywood where he became a part of several standup comedy gigs. Nick made his mark in the industry when he landed a role in the Nickelodeon comedy show, “All That”, in the mid-90s.

Nick made a small appearance in “Men in Black II”. His debut lead role was when he played the main character Devon Miles in the movie “Drumline“. He then signed a comedy film called “Love Don’t Cost A Thing”. His other popular films include “Shall We Dance”, “Roll Bounce”, and 2006’s “Bobby.”
He got noticed when he played a role in the movie “Bobby”. He received a nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Award in 2007 and was awarded the Breakthrough Actor of the Year Award at the Cannes Film Festival. Cannon became a part of the show “Wild & Out”, which became a big success on MTV from 2005-2007. The show ran for a total of 4 seasons.

In 2005 Nick made his debut in the music industry 2005. He launched his own record label which he named, “Can I Ball Records“. He released his self-titled debut studio album in 2003 and the album peaked at #15. The song entered the US R&B chart and became a success. The lead single of the debut album, “Can I Live” was released in July 2005.
