One of the most anticipated films this year is Joker, the new film by director Todd Phillips that will feature the protagonist of Joaquin Phoenix, who this time is now in charge of embodying a more sombre version and never before seen of the so-called “Clown Prince of crime”. And to increase even more the expectations that were already had on this project, during the recent Cinema-Con the first trailer for the film has been released, which, in a nutshell, is a summary of madness and crime.
Arthur Fleck (Phoenix) is a man who is convinced that a smile and a happy face can bring joy and joy to the world, but not in Gothic City, where innocence, weakness and goodness are paid with violence, crime and many cases until death. That is why we will see how this character will turn from a harmless man to a monstrous and dangerous psycho who will be known as Joker.
This project was announced for some time, however, it was not until mid-2018 when it was learned that Phoenix – one of the most talented actors of our time – had been chosen to play the Joker, that expectations they really went up, because Joaquin has shown enormous versatility to create from cute characters like in Her (2013), to ruthless hired killers like in You Were Never Really Here (2017).
However, it is important to clarify that this Warner Bros film does not belong to the current DC universe, but is intended as the first pillar to forge a new saga of films that so far (and only so far) has been called as “DCDark”, because it is intended to start a series of films that show both heroes and villains of these comics but with a more sinister and realistic approach than shown so far.
That is why although Joker will be the story of the emergence of this villain, it is very possible that he has certain freedoms in the construction of the character, although the essence will remain the same as Gotham City because from the trailer we can see familiar scenarios as is the Arkham Asylum.
In addition, it has been confirmed that in this film the actors Dante Pereira-Olson and Douglas Hodge will give life to some young Bruce Wayne and Alfred; so yes, in a way Batman will be involved in this project.

What did we see in the Joker trailer?
Of course, it is still rushed to start formulating theories about how it will be the emergence of such an emblematic villain, so it does not have many cases to ask “Why?” And “How?” Is that this happened, but the best will find out
However, what we did see the trailer is that it will be a dark, realistic and full of madness tape because in less than three minutes we witnessed how a simple man is able to transform himself into a madman who must be fear.
As if that were not enough, this breakthrough already let us see the great load of violence that the feature film will have, so we could say that this will be a rather crude, dangerous and murky project, three elements that are already embodied in the upset Joker’s mind.
In addition, due to the seriousness and tone that the plot will apparently have, it is said that this tape could be directly connected with The Batman, the next film of the batman directed by Matt Reeves, which will also have a more style «Noir» where the detective skills of this hero will be exploited much more.
The great puzzle:
Although initially the first images of the Joker that was released were not liked by many, especially because they saw very little of the visual scene of this criminal in his clothes and makeup, this first trailer has arrived to change all those opinions, because just moments after its launch, the debate arose about whether Phoenix could overcome not only Jack Nicholson but also Heath Ledger himself in his interpretations of the Joker.
Of course, the best thing would be not to compare, because the safest thing is that after the premiere of this new film, each of them leaves us with a very different Joker from each other, but to find out we will have to wait until October 4, 2019.
