In the crisis between Iran and the US has offered Iraq as an intermediary. His country would play a crucial role to reduce tensions between Tehran and Washington.

The Iraqi Parliament speaker Mohammed al-Halbussi said after a Meeting with Iran’s foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. An escalation in the Region had to be prevented.

Iraq’s foreign Minister Mohammed Ali Al-Hakim, called for more dialogue between the parties to the conflict. The US-imposed sanctions against Iran, the Iraqi politician described as “not useful”. Iran’s foreign Minister Zarif was two days of talks in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The crisis between Washington and Tehran escalated for months. A year ago, U.S. President Donald Trump was pulled out unilaterally from the nuclear deal with Iran. Thus, U.S. economic sanctions were in force, which put Iran under massive pressure. The US accuses the leadership in Tehran, the conflicts in the Region, to fuel and support terrorism. On Friday, the United States had notified to send additional 1500 troops to the Middle East. Zarif said on Sunday that his country did not want a military escalation.
