HBO MAX To Cut Several Shows From Their Service
Some of the popular shows like Batman: Caped Crusader, Merry Little Batman, The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie; Bye, Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical; Did I Do That to The Holidays: A Steve Urkel Story, and The Amazing World of Gumball: The Movie will no longer be available at HBO Max. According to the latest news these shows will find a new home for themselves. They will continue production and will air on some other platform. This move was made by Warner Bros. Discovery as they look to cut costs ahead of the next year’s streaming merger between HBO Max and Discovery+. These shows are among dozens of titles that have been cut or removed from the streaming service. Warner Bros Discovery continues its cost-cutting measures before the merger of the HBO Max and Discovery+ services next year.
Batman: Caped Crusader Latest Updates
In 2021, animation fans were excited to find out that Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams, and Matt Reeves (The Batman) were joining the HBO Max and Cartoon Network and will be expanding Batman’s animated universe with the new series Batman: Caped Crusader.
The executive produced by showrunner Timm, Abrams and Reeves, and co-executive producer James Tucker were all happy to join the HBO Max network for the release of the show. Batman: Caped Crusader was produced by Warner Bros. Animation (WBA), Bad Robot Productions, and 6th & Idaho.

The series is the reimagining of The Dark Knight’s mythology- and it marks Timm’s return to Batman. The comics author Ed Brubaker (Catwoman, Gotham Central, Captain America) had joined the creative team and he was the head writer & executive producer. He was reportedly running the writers’ room along with Timm and was acting “as Timm’s right hand.”
“Here’s something few people know, but the original Batman: The Animated Series was one of the things that made me want to write superhero comics in general, and Batman in particular,” said Brubaker in a statement to THR at the time of his coming aboard the series was announced. “If not for what Bruce Timm and all the talented writers and artists did with that show, things like my revamp of Catwoman with Darwyn Cooke (who worked on BTAS) and Gotham Central with Greg Rucka and Michael Lark, would never have happened.
‘’So when Bruce Timm offered me the chance to come work on this new reimagining of Batman with him, James Tucker, J.J. Abrams, and Matt Reeves, I jumped at it. Their vision for the show, with a slightly pulpier take on the character, and a new way of looking at the world of Gotham, set in the past but viewed through a modern lens really sold me, and so far every part of it has been a blast to work on. I can’t wait until the rest of the world can see what we’ve been building the last few months in the writer’s room. All I can say is, it’s not what anyone is expecting … but in a good way.”
Did HBO Max remove Looney Tunes?
Looney Tunes is an American animated comedy short film series. The series has been produced by Warner Bros. The show started airing in the 1930s and went on to air successfully till the year 1969. It is concurrently released with the related Merrie Melodies. During the golden age of American animation, these two series introduced a large cast of characters.
These new characters include Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Porky Pig. Apparently, HBO Max has removed some of the most popular Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies shorts that were supposed to be a part of Batch 3. Some of these new restorations were added to HBO Max’s library but they didn’t last long.
