How old is RM from BTS?
RM from BTS, real name Kim Namjoon was born on Sept. 12, 1994. Fans first met Namjoon was he just 18-years-old, (as his international age.) When BTS debuted in 2013, he was still known as Rap Monster, winning fans over with his talent, his smarts, and his personality.
Now, about six years later, RM finally has a chance to celebrate his birthday while the group is on vacation. That doesn’t stop fans from celebrating alongside the K-pop idol. Both on social media and in real life, fans are using this opportunity to celebrate nature and RM’s time off from touring, “Namjooning.”
What are fans doing to celebrate RM’s birthday?
Because BTS does not accept gifts from fans anymore, the army looked for a different to show their love for this member on his birthday. One fan started a birthday project involving one of RM’s favorite things — nature.
Members of the BTS army helped plant a forest of trees in Seoul, South Korea. According to Newsweek, “fans donated nearly $10,000 to plant the trees, in honor of RM’s commitment to environmental issues.” One Twitter user explained the project on social media.
“I wanted to do a forest project because I wanted to do something that would impact the world. The world that we live in, the world that Joon lives in. It is nice to buy him lots of cool clothes and gifts but I know all those are material things that he can get himself as well,” the fan shared on Twitter. “I just wanted to do something that can help the world, and how awesome it would be, that he inspired us armies to work together!”
Fans also started the hashtag on twitter #HappyBirthdayNamjoon #HappyBirthdayRM
Of course, on social media, fans shared their love and appreciation for the BTS member. Additionally, they expressed their birthday wishes with the hashtags #HappyBirthdayNamjoon and #HappyBirthdayRM. Both hashtags trended on Twitter.
“An outstanding, kind, caring leader who deserves the whole world and more. He has a lot of responsibilities to carry as a leader, and he does them so maturely and compassionately. All of the members look up to him and, all Armys do, too. We love you, Joonie,” said one Twitter user.
“Joon once said that his mom gets sad whenever he spends his birthday away from home, and thinking about the situation right now, he gets to celebrate his birthday with his family tomorrow and that’s the best thing,” wrote another Twitter user. “It’s so satisfying and I feel so happy for Namjoon. Must be the best birthday gift for him.”
RM and BTS’ music, including their album Map of the Soul: Persona, is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and most major streaming platforms.
