Gradual Resumption Of Select Passenger Services By Indian Railways

Lockdown continues across the country till May 17 for the prevention of Coronavirus, but Indian Railways has decided to run trains from May 12 itself. Railways is planning to start its services in a phased manner. Indian Railways plan to start the trains gradually from May 12. During this time, these trains connecting New Delhi station to Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad and Jammu Tawi will be run as special trains.

After that, the railways will operate special trains on some other routes though it will depend on the availability of coaches as 20,000 coaches have been reserved as Kovid-19 care centers while the sufficient number of coach reserves to run 300 workers special trains per day Huh.

Booking for reservation in these trains will start from 4 pm on May 11 and only tickets can be made from the IRCTC website. Ticket booking counters at railway stations will remain closed and no counter tickets (including platform tickets) will be issued. Only passengers with valid confirmed tickets will be allowed to enter railway stations. Masks will be mandatory for passengers during entry and will undergo screening at departure and only passengers will be allowed to board the train.

On the other hand, lockdown is applicable throughout the country to overcome coronavirus. Despite this, the cases of infection are increasing rapidly. A total of 62,939 positive cases have been reported in India so far. According to the data released by the Health Ministry on Sunday, 2,109 people have died so far in the country from coronavirus while the total number of infected has reached 62,939. At the same time, 3,277 new cases of corona have been reported in the last 24 hours and 128 people have lost their lives due to this.

It is a matter of relief that so far 19,358 patients have been cured of this disease. The recovery rate has improved to 30.75 percent. A nationwide lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of corona infection will remain in force until May 17.
