Facebook is going to take steps to limit harmful content on its platform. The company has said that it can limit the reach of posts lacking authenticity. Facebook Vice President (Global Policy Management) Monika Bickert said, “We want to make sure that the content people are seeing on Facebook is authentic. We believe that authenticity creates a better environment for sharing posts, And that’s why we don’t want people to use Facebook the wrong way. “
Updating its community standards, Facebook said it would look at three other values besides authenticity to limit posts, including security, dignity and privacy.
Bickert said, “Commitment to expression is paramount, but we have seen that the Internet creates new and wider opportunities for abuse.”
Facebook said that it is committed to making its platform a safe place.
