E3 Announces Online-Only Event For 2022 Due To COVID-19

The summer gaming convention E3 has announced that they will be holding the yearly event online. Due to the rise in Covid-19 cases, E3 has shifted their event to online. The team of E3 has confirmed that they will be switching over to an online-only event. In 2022 the rise in the COVID-19 cases is a serious concern all over the world. Many events and public places have been closed due to the surge in the Omicron cases. With the Omicron variant making its way all over the United States E3 has taken the decision to cancel the live event.

E3 In-Person 2022 Event Canceled

With Omicron cases spiking in the USA E3 has canceled the in-person event 2022. The Omicron variant is a big concern and people have been asking how this will impact the 2022 conventions. All of us were slowly getting back to some form of normality but things took a sudden turn with the rise in Omicron cases. ESA officials have revealed details about the event. According to their official response:

“Due to the ongoing health risks surrounding COVID-19 and its potential impact on the safety of exhibitors and attendees, E3 will not be held in person in 2022,” the ESA said in a statement to GamesBeat. “We remain incredibly excited about the future of E3 and look forward to announcing more details soon.” […] Asked to clarify if there will be an online event, the ESA said it is “excited about the possibilities of an online event.”

Events That Got Canceled Due to Covid-19

E3 2022 event just got canceled and the show will go online now on the scheduled date. This decision of the developers shouldn’t surprise anyone at this point because it was pretty clear that the city of Los Angeles was already having concerns over the surge in cases of the Omicron virus. Super Bowl was canceled earlier this year in SoFi Stadium.

After new regulations were put up last year in LA many events got canceled. NFL is looking for a new location in a state that has more relaxed regulations. E3 cannot change the location as they are tied to the Los Angeles Convention Center.

More than likely, E3 2022 will be very much similar to E3 2021. The E3 event 2022 will be presenting a number of showcases that have been run by people. Who will be showing up under their banner is going to be an entirely different story.

The Summer Games Fest has announced that it will be coming back. The several studios do their own thing and all the banners cannot spend money just because they are under the banner of E3. In the next five months, we will be getting more updates on the upcoming events held by the company.
