The German trade Union Federation (DGB) is calling for tougher penalties for breaches of the minimum wage. “Employers who do not adhere to the rules, should in future receive no public orders anymore,” said DGB Board member Stefan Körzell the Newspapers of the Funke media group.

This should also apply to cases in which not the actual contractor, but the subcontractors over the minimum wage. With a view to the customs balance sheet for the past year, the Federal Finance Minister, Olaf Scholz (SPD), presented today, said Körzell: “the fact That there are violations on an enormous scale, demonstrates the importance of regular checks and the recording duty of the employer must be intensified at the working time.”
