Nearly two months after the resignation of Horst Seehofer wants to choose the CSU this Saturday a new party leader.

At the special Congress in Munich, the Bavarian Prime Minister, Markus Söder is the sole candidate for the succession. For the CSU on the party conference, which also includes the new CDU leader, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer is not expected, but far more than just the election of their party leaders.

the Meeting of some 900 delegates in the small Olympic hall marked at the same time also the starting point for the CSU major in a European election year, and officially opens their structural renewal. For weeks Söder and Seehofer speak of an urgent Reform of the party as a reaction to the recent bad results in the elections in 2017 and 2018. Another highlight of the party rally, the adoption of the Leitantrags to the European elections on may 26. May. For the first time in its history, the CSU top candidate party Deputy Manfred Weber is also the top candidate of the CDU and the European people’s party. Weber has the President in the case of an election victory chances on the office of the EU Commission. In Munich he wants to speak to the delegates.
