Plot
The plot of the movie is based on a true incident of an acid attack survivor. Laxmi Agharwal was born and brought up in New Delhi and her dream was to become a singer one day. She suffered from an acid attack while going to the Khan Market located in New Delhi. The attack was done by a 32 year old man called Naeem who was interested in Laxmi and she ignored his advances. Due to anger and rejection Naeem attacked Laxmi in the market and left her helpless in the street after the attack. The heart wrenching and grievous movie is sure to move the hearts of millions after its release. The movie is about the life of the acid attack survival Laxmi and how she has been living up till now.
Deepika the perfect choice for the Role
Deepika Padukone in an interview revealed that she didn’t want to take up the offer of another intense movie because she has done three back to back serious movies previously in a row. But when Megha Gulzar narrated her story of the movie she couldn’t hold back her tears and planned to do the movie instantly. The overwhelming plot of the movie moved her heart and she couldn’t say no to play such a motivational and inspirational character. Deepika will play a girl named Malti who is an acid attack survivor. The movie is about the struggles and fights that Malti faces but still grits her teeth to go on with her life and come out as a winner. The movie also stars Vikrant Massey in the male lead role.
