The AfD has declared its support for a “Dexit”, if the European Union should not change in the foreseeable future radically.
On a Europe-Congress of the party in the Saxon town of Riesa, the majority of the delegates spoke out on Sunday in favour of the following wording in the program of the party for the European elections in may: “Should our fundamental Reform in the existing System of the EU in a reasonable period of time not to realize it, we keep a German exit or an orderly dissolution of the European Union and the establishment of a new European economic and community of interest as a last Option for necessary”.
This formulation is only valid, if the delegates decide to end the entire program. The debate is likely to continue until late in the afternoon. In the slogan of the “Dexit was provided” as a possibility already after one term. Many of the speakers had declared on Saturday that the EU is reformable.
The AfD-Chairman Alexander Gauland, however, had warned that a concrete date for a possible German exit from the European Union. “I don’t think it is wise, in a Situation with a maximum demand in the choice to go in,” he said with a view to possible turbulence around the “Brexit”. The UK’s exit at the end of March should consider short-term turbulence and temporary economic disadvantages for the United Kingdom, could also influence voters in Germany, he argued.
Gauland said, the chances for a Dismantling of the EU to a pure economic community are currently good. This will need more time than one term.
