On the day, exactly 56 years after the signing of the Élysée Treaty, there is a new German-French friendship Pact. Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, the 16-page paper in Aachen. What exactly is in it? The main points from the draft:
base: For France and Germany it is time, “to raise their bilateral relations to a new stage and the challenges facing both States and Europe in the 21st century. Century”. This can go along with the “firm commitment to an international, rule-based, and on multilateralism reasons for the order, in the centre of the United Nations”.

They are committed to an effective and strong Common Foreign and security policy and strengthen and deepen the economic and monetary Union.” (…) “Both States hold in front of the big European Meetings, regular consultations at all levels and strive, so, the common positions (…).”

economy: the Integration of The economies towards a Franco-German economic area with common rules, to go into the detail, the harmonisation of the law will be brought forward. “Both States shall establish a Franco-German “Council of economic experts”, composed of ten independent experts”. Joint research and innovation programmes should be promoted.
