A Discovery of Witches Season 2: Release Date, Plot and Everything We Know So Far

Sky One’s original show A Discovery of Witches was the network’s most popular drama of the year 2018 and garnered over 2 million viewers. The first episode aired on 14 September 2018 and became the internet sensation. There were eight episodes in the first season and looking at its popularity, the show is set to have a second season. Sky One announced the second and third seasons of the show in November 2018. A Discovery of Witches Season 2, based on the trilogy named All Souls, written by Deborah Harkness, is a British television program produced by Bad Wolf and Sky Productions.

Plot:

The story revolves around a witch named Diane Bishop who comes across a bewitched book and is exposed to a world of magic and charm, a vampire named Matthew Clairmont joins her to form a team and together they unearth the secrets of the book.

The second season of A Discovery of Witches will continue with the experiences of the characters in Elizabeth London. The plot will concentrate on the romantic tale of the witch and the vampire, Matthew, and Diana. Furthermore, the next part will dive into Matthew Clairmont’s past and explore the riddles surrounding Diana and Ashmole 782’s otherworldly intensity. A powerful enchantment instructor will teach Diana how to control her powers. Sky network revealed that Diana and Matthew’s story will progress where they will be “hiding in time in the fascinating and treacherous world of Elizabethan London — where they must find a powerful witch teacher to help Diana control her magic and search for the elusive Book of Life.”

Palmer herself said, “I think that, for the next season, things are probably gonna get even more dangerous, but also even more adventurous and exciting.”

Everything We Know So Far:

Talking about the success of the first season, Sky network’s Head of Drama Anne Mensah commented that “Season one was a brilliant introduction to the All Souls world and the love story between Diana and Matthew. We can’t wait for the show’s fans to continue the journey with seasons two and three, become more enchanted by the characters, and watch the magic further unfold.”

Harkness said: “Given how warmly the season was received, I’m thrilled that we will be continuing with the story of the All Souls Trilogy, there is so much to look forward to as we travel into Matthew’s past and delve further into the mysteries surrounding Diana’s power and Ashmole 782.”

The second season is written by Sarah Dollard (Doctor Who, Being Human) and Susie Conklin (The Musketeers, Cranford) and is produced by Bad Wolf manufacturing firm co-founders Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner, in addition to Lachlan MacKinnon and Harkness, the writer of the trilogy herself, alongside Conklin as the executive producer.

Release Date of The Show:

The shooting for the show started in 2019 and it is still in its production stage. The official date for the second season of the show has not been announced yet but it is expected to hit the screens in 2020.

The show will be available on Sky One, AMC TV, BBC America, and Bad Wolf TV.com
