researchers from the Independent Commission for the reappraisal of child sexual abuse present today the results of a case study to the question of the extent to which sexual violence against children in the GDR was discussed.

Since 2016 would have reported to the Commission Concerned, the had abuse in confidential hearings and written Reports in their Childhood and youth in the GDR described, it was said in advance. For the case study 75 of these hearings, and 27 reports were evaluated accordingly. The investigation should arrange the personal fates in the historical context.

According to the Commission of sexual abuse of children and young people was taboo in the GDR, far more and longer than in the old länder. It had been spoken, neither in private nor in public about sexual violence in the family or in homes.
